About The Vault
This subterranean two-story steel vault was built into the bedrock in 1913, with a door that is 4 ½ feet thick and weighs 40 tonnes. Nineteen horses and eight teamsters hauled the door into place in 1914. Once considered the safest bank vault in Canada, the vault has been used as a setting for films including Red and Jumper. It is accessible from the One King West Hotel lobby by marble staircase.
