Plan my Mississauga weekend · What's on this weekend
Find a place to stay in Mississauga
Mississauga gives you two easy days on Lake Ontario: a heritage museum, a lakefront walk, a fish lunch and two breweries on one day, then a gallery, a Japanese garden, a museum of illusions and a big night out on the other. Day 1 follows Lakeshore Road through Port Credit. Day 2 stays in the city centre. It suits a couple or friends coming out from Toronto who want a plan with the evenings already in it.
Day 1: Port Credit and the Lakeshore
Start at the Bradley Museum on Orr Road, near the lake. The grounds hold four heritage buildings: The Anchorage, a Regency-style cottage, the Bradley House, a log cabin moved from Port Credit, and a barn. Tickets for upcoming events are on its page.
Drive east to Jack Darling Memorial Park on Lakeshore Road West. It has a waterfront, a stretch of native tallgrass prairie and a paved section of the Waterfront Trail, and a walking trail carries on to Rattray Marsh Conservation Area.
Port Credit is next. The Port Credit Lighthouse stands on Lakeshore Road West, where the Credit River meets the lake. Walk the harbour from here.
For lunch, Snug Harbour Seafood Bar and Grill on Stavebank Road South sits on the waterfront and cooks fresh fish and seafood. Book a table ahead on its site.
Then go up the street to Old Credit Brewing Co on Queen Street West. The core lineup is an Amber Ale, a Helles Lager, a Honey Ale, a Pale Ale and a Pale Pilsner, with seasonal and small-batch releases alongside.
Carry on along the lakeshore to Stonehooker Brewing Company on Lakeshore Road East, a craft brewery whose taps include Chill Pils, a Czech-style pilsner, and Broad Reach, a hazy IPA.
Finish at the Small Arms Inspection Building, the city's arts and culture venue further east on Lakeshore Road, home to markets, exhibitions and ticketed evenings. Tickets for upcoming events are on its page.
Day 2: City centre, from the gallery to the Rec Room
Everything today sits within a few streets of City Centre Drive. Start at the Art Gallery of Mississauga, which changes its contemporary exhibitions through the year and adds workshops and live performances. Outside, Mississauga Celebration Square is the city's main square, with an outdoor ice rink in winter. Tickets for upcoming events are on its page.
Walk to Kariya Park on Kariya Drive. The city built it to honour its sister city of Kariya, Japan, and it holds Japanese-style gardens, a pavilion, a pond and the Friendship Bell.
The MiMuseum on Confederation Parkway is a museum of illusions. The exhibits play with space, depth and motion, and the rooms are made for photos. Tickets sell online.
For a late lunch, Andaaz Social Kitchen & Bar on Grand Park Drive cooks modern Indian food. Its site takes reservations.
Spend the evening at the Living Arts Centre on Living Arts Drive, with a 1,300-seat main auditorium, a 310-seat studio theatre and a 109-seat screening room. The bill runs from symphonies to rock shows and ballet. Tickets for upcoming shows are on its page.
Or end the weekend at The Rec Room Square One, inside Square One on City Centre Drive: an arcade, a restaurant, a bar and a live programme that includes trivia nights. Tickets for upcoming events are on its page.
